An adventurous, authentic, unique trek and meharee through the Tunisian Sahara with horses and packed dromedaries, guided by experienced Bedouins, to bring back the old days - when Bedouin cavaliers protected their meharee with their fast horses through the desert. The departure into the desert is from the characteristic village Douz, the gateway to the Sahara. 
All the supplies, luggage, grain and hay for the horses are carried by dromedaries. 
Nights are spent under Bedouin tents woven of dromedary wool or in modern high-tech white colored aerial tents.

A Bedouin cook prepares the meals with fresh organic vegetables and fruit and every day freshly baked bread. The guides are gentle and polite, they sing, make music with their own instruments like flute and little traditional Bedouin drum.
Beautiful highlights will be visited like abandoned villages, a place where sand roses can be found, holy marabouts and water sources and the marvelous ever continuing sand dunes.

The views over the desert are spectacular as well as the experience riding the horses who enjoy going up the dunes or as the meditative rhythm of the dromedary. The trek program is unique and you have the possibility to travel with horse riders, friends and family members and children who can travel together with the dromedaries. The trek is a 8 days vacation, 6 full days horseback riding through the Tunisian Sahara. A spectacular tour to places even a jeep cannot come. Prepare yourself for impressive views and experiences you will never forget. Chose to participate this circuit by horse or by dromedary, so now and then by foot and at the time of the meals all meet together. Every day a well or natural water source will be searched. The dromedaries need at least every two days fresh water, the horses need fresh water every day. All the luggage, including the feeding supplies for horses and dromedaries, tents, cooking supplies, personal belongings, mattresses and blankets are carried by the dromedaries. They can put up to 150 kg if neccesary, during the trek. An experienced guide, leads the meharee by foot, finds the best route to everyday 's destination. Your cavalier Abderrahim will guide you by horse away from the meharee to let you experience the marvelous characters of the horses and for galloping through the Sahara, an extra cavalier accompanies the trek and takes care of the regular feeding and grooming of the horses, a cook prepares all the meals with fresh organic vegetables and fruit and every day freshly baked bread. Most of the horses are stallions and amazingly calm. The horses don' t follow the exact route like the dromedaries. Both the dromedaries and the horses can climb the high dunes easily, the horses take often a wider circle to explore the environment. A sufficient drinking water supply is taken care of, cooking and washing water can be found at the natural sources which will hopefully be found every day. Please take care of your sleeping bag and linen. Warm blankets, mattresses and tents are available.

day 1 Transfer from Djerba or Tozeur airport by jeep, to Douz. Night in hotel center village.

day 2 Program starts to get to know your group, the cavaliers, the horses and the dromedaries, during a tour through the calm and quiet oasis with all the majestic palm trees. Get accustomed to your horse and a complete different culture and environment. Lunch Bedouin, an experience tot get a glimpse of nowadays life of the Bedouins and afterwards siesta. In the afternoon, departure from Douz in the direction of  Omegh Hinda, visiting a Marabout.

day 3 After breakfast the tour continues to LeLouila, a surprisingly spot amongst palm trees and dunes, trotting and gallopping can be expected.

day 4 After breakfast a spot will be found where can be searched for marvelous sand roses, formed out of water, wind and sand. In the afternoon, after lunch, the tour continues until Bir Elgar. Bedouins are living there permanently. Rest of the afternoon can be spend admiring the spectacular view like in a dream.

day 5 After breakfast the tour continues along the the grand dune The Grand Erg Oriental. The landscape is changing into pasture, a promise to get to meet the Bedouins at Bir Belgacem.

day 6 After breakfast the tour continues to Ain Mansour with a natural source and Bedouins living there permanently under wool woven tents. In the afternoon, after lunch the tour continues to benSheroud.

day 7 The last part continues to LeHessey, In the afternoon is the arrival in Douz, the rest of the afternoon can be spend in Douz' Soukh, there are 3 atm' s. A visit to the swimming pool or the hamman is possible at one of the luxury hotels.

day 8 After breakfast transfer to Djerba or Tozeur.
